Ter Stegen’s Barcelona future is in the balance after an injury-hit campaign and reduced status in goal. According to Superdeporte, Barcelona would facilitate a departure if a suitable offer arrives, despite his deal running to 2028.
The German, 34, is open to alternatives outside Spain after a recent loan at Girona, and he is prioritising a project that offers regular elite minutes.
A hamstring problem late in the campaign disrupted his rhythm, and he featured only three times, which has prompted some hesitation among suitors, though his pedigree remains valued.
Transfermarkt values him at around four million euros, a figure shaped by age, injuries and his contract situation.
He is in the final stage of rehab at the Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper, aiming to join full training before pre-season. The plan is to work with the group from mid July and, if the response is positive, to feature in friendlies.
Barcelona are assessing his progress daily while the goalkeeper seeks rhythm after a difficult spell. All options remain open, from a permanent exit to continuity if no convincing bids arrive, and even another loan to ease the wage bill.
