Ter Stegen vs Szczęsny: Hansi Flick hints Barcelona goalkeeper spot is still up for grabs | OneFootball

Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick has on Monday spoken out regarding the goalkeeper pecking order in his squad.

The subject of the situation between the posts has of course returned to the forefront of the headlines in Catalunya’s capital over recent weeks.

This comes after Marc-André ter Stegen completed his recovery from a long-term knee injury sooner than expected.

In the German’s absence, Wojciech Szczęsny, brought in late last year to act as cover, has done a stellar job of manning the Barcelona goal.

With Ter Stegen now back fit and firing, however, Hansi Flick has been left with something of a decision to make.

Reports in the media over recent days had assured that Szczęsny was assured of holding onto his first-choice status through the close of the campaign.

Drawn on as much during his latest pre-match press conference on Monday, however, Flick hinted that the situation is still somewhat up in the air:

“Szczesny and Ter Stegen? Ter Stegen is ready. So we need to talk about what we’ll do in goal.”
