FLW details the players who are set to miss the West Midlands derby on Tuesday evening.

The latest midweek round of Championship fixtures sees a West Midlands derby unfold as Birmingham City prepare to welcome West Brom to St Andrews @ Knighthead Park on Tuesday evening.

The Blues and Baggies played out a 1-1 draw at The Hawthorns back in November when the two teams last faced off, as Marvin Ducksch’s strike shared the spoils, cancelling out Alex Mowatt’s effort.

The two sides come into this encounter at different ends of the table. Hosts Birmingham are eyeing up a charge for a play-off place come the end of the season, and could even sneak into the top six if they secure three points over Albion and other results go their way.

And there would be no surprise to see Blues get another victory on the board, with Chris Davies’ men unbeaten in their last six second-tier outings and making St Andrew's a fortress on their return to the Championship.

Meanwhile, for West Brom and Eric Ramsay, they are desperate for points by hook or by crook in order to get themselves out of the relegation mire they currently find themselves in.

After slipping into the bottom three prior to their meeting with Stoke City last weekend, Albion showed a lot more heart and fight, securing a goalless draw that propped them up above both Blackburn Rovers and Leicester City in the race for survival.

Ramsay also changed to a four at the back setup as opposed to his usual three, with optimism remaining that the players can start achieving positive results now back in familiar surroundings.

Whenever Birmingham and West Brom meet, the atmosphere is electric, and both sides will be desperate to earn the bragging rights in a fiery West Midlands derby.

In the build up to the game, FLW lists the players who are expected to be missing from both camps in midweek.

Birmingham City: Jack Robinson

Starting off with the hosts, they have a few injury issues to contend with heading into their clash with West Brom, starting off with central defender Jack Robinson.

The former Sheffield United man hasn't featured for Blues since their win over Cambridge United in the FA Cup with a hamstring problem.

While the injury isn’t as bad as first feared, Robinson has missed over a month of action, which is a blow for the club given his experience at this level.

Blues boss Chris Davies has previously stated Robinson should return to training in February, but it looks like that will be later into the month, ruling him out of this contest.

Birmingham City: Alex Cochrane

There’s also been some injury concern at left-back for Birmingham, with Alex Cochrane's ankle problem forcing the club into recruiting Kai Wagner from Philadelphia Union as a replacement.

Wagner is likely to hold onto the shirt for a while too, with Cochrane not scheduled to return until April, meaning he will be unavailable for the arrival of Albion in midweek.

Birmingham City: Ethan Laird

Another defender who will miss the battle with the Baggies is Ethan Laird.

Laird last featured for Blues towards the end of September, suffering a 'high grade' hamstring injury.

The defender is closing in on a return to first-team training soon, so while Tuesday’s match may come a bit too soon, he could well be back involved with the squad later on this month.

Birmingham City: Demarai Gray

Moving into the forward areas, Demarai Gray has been a big miss for Birmingham in recent times.

The Jamaican international has been absent with a calf problem since Boxing Day, but he is very close to making his return.

Prior to their meeting with Leicester City last weekend, Davies revealed that Gray could return to the squad against Leeds United in their upcoming FA Cup tie, so while he will be out of Tuesday’s game, he should be back this coming weekend to help the team out as they chase a spot in the top six.

West Brom: Tammer Bany

Moving onto the visitors, attacking midfielder Tammer Bany is a long-term injury absentee.

The Jordan international is currently working his way back from a four-month lay-off after suffering a ruptured thigh injury in training at the end of December.

Therefore, he will play no part against Blues.

West Brom: Karlan Grant

Albion winger Karlan Grant is also facing a lengthy period of time on the sidelines himself.

The former Huddersfield Town man suffered a hamstring injury in the early stages of their draw with Derby County at Pride Park, requiring surgery.

It leaves Grant out for three months, with a hope he will return to play some part towards the end of their Championship campaign.

West Brom: Krystian Bielik

The rest of West Brom’s injury troubles lie in defence, with Krystian Bielik set to miss a reunion with his former employers.

The Poland international suffered a rather nasty shoulder injury at Derby County a few weeks ago, originally carrying on from the knock but being forced off in the second period.

Bielik is closing in on a return, but Ramsay has admitted that the game at St Andrew’s is coming too soon for the defender.

West Brom: George Campbell

It’s a similar story for George Campbell, who has missed the last couple of weeks following a hamstring tweak in training.

The American is believed to be back on the grass and gearing up for a return, but Ramsay also confirmed that the 24-year-old wouldn’t make it in time for the derby.

West Brom: Chris Mepham

The Baggies’ final absentee could well be defender Chris Mepham, who was forced off in the latter stages of last weekend’s draw against Stoke with a suspected hamstring issue.

The Welsh international was able to walk off the pitch unaided and joined the team on the sidelines for the remainder of the game, but remains a doubt given the sharp turnaround.
