Chelsea still view England international Jadon Sancho as a “potential superstar” according to The Athletic.

The Blues signed the 24-year-old on deadline day last summer from Manchester United on an initial loan deal, which will become permanent for around £25m as long as Chelsea don’t finish in the bottom six of the Premier League.

Sancho made a good start to his Chelsea career, but his form has dipped recently and John Obi Mikel has warned him he can’t relax at the club.

Chelsea view Sancho as potential superstar

The Blues were looking to sign an attacker in the January window, but they were unable to despite being linked with the likes of Jamie Gittens and Alejandro Garnacho.

Chelsea were said to have had a five man shortlist of attacking targets and it’s likely they will revisit some of those in the summer.

The club are once again looking at wingers given the uncertainty around when Mykhailo Mudryk will play again following his positive doping test.

The Blues only signed Sancho and Pedro Neto in the summer, whilst Brazilian wonder kid Estevao Willian will arrive after the Club World Cup.

Chelsea have by no means given up on Sancho and The Athletic have reported the Blues still view him as a “potential superstar.”

Enzo Maresca labelled Sancho as a special player earlier this season, but the Blues need to see more consistency from him, like with their other attackers.

Sancho has by no means done badly and has four assists and two goals in 18 Premier League appearances this season.

However, he’s not registered a goal contribution since the 1-1 draw with Crystal Palace on January 4th, and that’s something that needs to change quickly.
