The bizarre reason Atletico Madrid has filed a UEFA complaint against Arsenal
Tensions are already rising ahead of Tuesday night’s highly anticipated Champions League group stage clash between Arsenal & Atletico Madrid scheduled for 19:00 GMT after the spanish club lodged official complaint over what they described as unacceptable treatment at the Emirates Stadium
According to Spanish outlet Marca, Atletico’s players were left furious on Monday evening when they discovered that there was no hot water available in the away dressing room following their final training session in London.
The incident occurred despite heavy rainfall during the latter part of the session leaving players soaked and forced to return to their hotel to shower.
The Spanish club reportedly asked Arsenal’s stadium staff to resolve the issue immediately but no action was taken prompting Atletico officials to file formal complaint to UEFA.
Reports described the situation as unprofessional and disrespectful just 24 hour before crucial European fixture.
"Players'd no choice but to go back to the team hotel to shower. It’s not the kind of treatment you expect at this level" Marca reported.
The controversy adds fuel to already intense matchup. Arsenal currently sit 6th in the Champions League standings with 6 point while Atletico Madrid are 10 with 4 point making Tuesday’s encounter potentially decisive for both sides qualification hopes.
