The 2026 FIFA World Cup can already be felt at the Home of Mexicans! The wait is nearly over, as the World Cup celebration began to take shape Saturday morning at Estadio AKRON with the arrival of the Coca-Cola Trophy Tour—an event that brings the most iconic trophy in world football to every corner of the globe.

As expected, Guadalajara is the first city in Mexico to host the 2026 FIFA World Cup trophy. Estadio AKRON, in partnership with Coca-Cola, has prepared an immersive experience that will place more than 30,000 visitors in full World Cup mode.

Leading the inauguration of the trophy’s first exhibition in Mexico were Amaury Vergara, President of Club Deportivo Guadalajara; Rosa Icela Rodríguez, Secretary of the Interior of the Government of Mexico; Jurgen Mainka, Director of FIFA’s Mexico office; Pablo Lemus, Governor of Jalisco; Juan José Frangie, Mayor of Zapopan; Verónica Delgadillo, Mayor of Guadalajara; Coca-Cola executives in Mexico; and, of course, two global football legends: Hugo Sánchez, Mexican icon, and Roque Júnior, World Cup champion at Korea-Japan 2002.

“In 2015, I received a call from Don Jorge Vergara (may he rest in peace) to tell me he had designed the construction of this stadium to host a World Cup. That dream became reality thanks to the vision of a great Jaliscan like Don Jorge. Let us never forget his legacy,” stated the state governor.
Throughout the tour, fans will fully immerse themselves in the world’s biggest tournament, with memorabilia, interactive activities, and an exclusive tour of Estadio AKRON that culminates with the crown jewel: the FIFA World Cup trophy.

With Coca-Cola’s support, the World Cup celebration is just around the corner, and fans in Guadalajara will be able to experience it this weekend at the Home of Mexicans.
