Just a few weeks ago, Real Madrid looked like a team drifting away from their objectives.

But football can turn quickly and in Madrid’s case, it has.

The club has undergone a dramatic internal shift, one that has completely changed the mood around the squad. 

Just 15 days after that low point, the message coming out of the dressing room following the win over Manchester City was clear and confident, 

“We can win La Liga and the Champions League.”

What triggered the change?

Internally, the club points to decisive changes made after the Super Cup. 

The departure of Xabi Alonso and his staff, followed by the arrival of Alvaro Arbeloa, is seen as the starting point.

There was a belief that poor planning had affected the team earlier in the season, and now, the physical side of the game is improving, and it is beginning to show on the pitch. 

Alongside that, tactical clarity and emotional reset have played a major role.

Players like Federico Valverde and Vinicius Jr., who looked out of rhythm under Alonso, have rediscovered form.

However, according to AS, the real turning point came behind closed doors.

A crucial meeting took place in the Valdebebas dressing room, one that forced the squad to confront its own reality. 

Notably, key figures like Jude Bellingham and Kylian Mbappe were not present, which allowed the rest of the group to speak openly.

During that meeting, players addressed each other directly, expressing frustrations and acknowledging that the current path was unsustainable. 

It was a moment of honesty, one where excuses were dropped, and responsibility was shared.

That meeting created a shift in mentality.

From that point on, the focus moved away from individual roles and towards collective effort. 

Right now, despite growing pressure and speculation about potential replacements, the club stands behind Arbeloa, and that backing was communicated clearly to the players.

The result of all these changes is now visible, as Real Madrid have gone from doubt to belief in a matter of weeks.
