Alan Nixon recently reported that the Terriers have submitted a £2.5 million bid for the 24-year-old.

Orient are prepared to part ways with the player if Huddersfield up that offer to £3 million, which is a figure Charlton are unlikely to match.

Nathan Jones’ side reportedly had a £1.3 million bid rejected for the Manchester United academy graduate, a figure which falls well below Richie Wellens' valuation of Galbraith.

Orient were on the cusp of promotion to the Championship last season but were bettered by the Addicks in the League One play-off final. Following that defeat, Galbraith may have revealed his intention to leave Brisbane Road this summer.

Speaking to BBC Sport after Orient’s 1-0 defeat at Wembley, the midfielder spoke on the club’s future promotion hopes, but didn’t include himself in that equation.

"We're disappointed for a couple of days, but after that we'll look towards next season and for the club there can only be excitement," said Galbraith.

"It's a young group. All of our loans – Jamie [Donley], Jack [Currie], Josh [Keeley] – can take a lot from this.

"Hopefully all the lads get here again and hopefully they are on the right side of it."

By hoping that his teammates can bounce back next season but distancing himself from that scenario, these comments could suggest that Galbraith’s mind has been made up for a while regarding his Orient exit.

With Huddersfield preparing to pay a healthy sum for his services, it may be a matter of when, not if the 24-year-old leaves Brisbane Road this summer.

Huddersfield signing Galbraith would lay down a real marker

Huddersfield have made their intention to back new manager Lee Grant clear, already completing deals for Marcus Harness, Ryan Ledson, Joe Low, Sean Roughan, Murray Wallace and Josh Feeney.

Adding Galbraith to that mix would show that the Terriers are serious about gaining promotion back to the Championship, with the side quickly becoming one of the most competitive on paper in League One.

Town seriously struggled in front of goal during the second period of last season, so injecting the midfielder’s creativity into the side is exactly what the doctor ordered. His versatility would also be a useful asset for Grant, with Galbraith capable of operating at right-back alongside his usual role in the middle of the park.

Huddersfield finished 14 points behind Orient last season and to take one of their standout stars would show that there is clearly huge belief in Grant’s ability to guide the club back up the Football League.

The third-tier is likely to be hotly contested next term, but a move for the 24-year-old would only increase the Yorkshire outfit’s chances of competing at the top.

Time will tell whether Grant and co. can get this deal over the line, but the signs are looking promising for Huddersfield at this moment in time.
