FC Barcelona have undoubtedly been one of the best teams in this edition of the UEFA Champions League. They finished the League Phase placed second on the table, only behind Liverpool, who have since been knocked out of the tournament by Paris Saint Germain.

The Blaugranes will be facing Borussia Dortmund in their upcoming quarter-final tie in the UCL. If they are able to win this tie, the Catalans will face either Bayern Munich or Inter Milan in the semi-final.

Keeping in view their form so far, Barcelona are certainly among the favorites to win the UCL title. This was definitely the view of their former midfielder Thiago Alcantara, who expressed this opinion while talking to the media in Miami.

As SPORT has reported, the Spaniard was quite clear his former team is a favorite for this title:

“Barça is undoubtedly one of the favorites to win the Champions League, the facts prove it.”

However, the road to the final will not be easy for the Blaugranes, as even if they beat Dortmund, they will have to face one of the two top teams in Europe.

Inter Milan could be their rivals in the semi-finals, and recreate one of the most memorable semi-finals in the history of the competition, when Pep Guardiola and Jose Mourinho were leading the two sides.

Thiago was asked about such a possibility, but the former midfielder believed the historical tie has been too long into the past to raise many memories:

“Yes, it’s a possibility. Inter will first have to face Bayern Munich, and it won’t be easy. If it happens, I don’t think it would be a revenge match as such. Too many things have changed—times, teams, key players. It would be nice for them to meet again, and surely it would be a great match and a great spectacle.”

Still, the prospect of facing Inter Milan remains a highly exciting one for Barcelona. On the other hand, a tie against Bayern Munich would also be an electrifying affair. But for now, the Blaugranes will have to focus on facing Dortmund in the quarter-finals.
