Goalscorers have long been saluted but the introduction of the Premier League’s Playmaker Award has paid overdue tribute to the chance creators.

Awarded to the player with the most assists in each campaign, the race to win the 2024/25 prize is beginning to heat up. Ollie Watkins was the recipient last season with his 13 assists helping Aston Villa to Champions League qualification. But who will take the prize this time around?

Using the latest live premier league odds we’ve ranked the five favourites to win the Premier League’s Playmaker Award this season.

Heung-min Son – Tottenham (100/1)

It’s been a tough season for Tottenham. Ange Postecoglou’s side have been decimated by injuries, with those in the side struggling in their absence. Heung-min Son’s level has been questioned on occasion but the Spurs captain has still returned a respectable nine assists. Just four players have managed more.

Mikkel Damsgaard – Brentford (50/1)

After a slow first couple of seasons at Brentford, Mikkel Damsgaard has found the form that saw his initial arrival greeted with excitement. The Denmark international has been Brentford’s creative hub this season, recording 10 assists in the Premier League.

Thomas Frank’s side have been propelled by the goals of Bryan Mbeumo and Yoane Wissa, but Damsgaard’s contribution has gone quietly under the radar.

Bukayo Saka – Arsenal (50/1)

Bukayo Saka was the frontrunner for this accolade earlier in the campaign but a hamstring injury has sidelined the Arsenal winger since December. Saka underwent surgery and is yet to return for the Gunners. Despite that, he remains joint-second in the standings with 10 assists from just 16 league appearances. His participation in Arsenal’s trip to Dubai for warm weather training this week suggests he could be ahead of schedule in terms of recovery.

Antonee Robinson – Fulham (50/1)

Few would have expected Antonee Robinson to feature on this list before a ball had been kicked but the Fulham full-back has been outstanding this season.

He’s got 10 Premier League assists for the campaign and counting, with only one player having managed more. Incredibly, the USA international recorded just seven assists in his previous 101 games as a Premier League player.

He’s closing in on the single-season record for assists by a defender. The current landmark is 13 assists, set by Liverpool’s Trent Alexander-Arnold in 2019/20.

Mohamed Salah – Liverpool (1/250)

Mohamed Salah is the odds-on favourite after a spectacular season for Liverpool.

Salah is out in front with 17 assists for the campaign and targeting his second Playmaker of the Season award. The Egyptian international also leads the league for goals (25) and has averaged a Premier League goal involvement every 59.1 minutes so far this season.

It’s an astonishing return of productivity from a player who has set standards in recent seasons. In this form, he’s a candidate for the Ballon d’Or.
