The Hatters are incredibly efficient in the final third, and this spells good news for their promotion push.
Luton Town have had an indifferent return to League One, and while they started the season poorly, the arrival of Jack Wilshere has helped the club greatly and they are once again pushing for a play-off spot.
The Hatters' last third tier campaign came in the 2018/19 season, and they have experienced the highs of promotion to the Premier League and the financial benefits that comes with the top flight, alongside the lows of back-to-back relegations.
Few supporters would have foreseen their current position two years ago, but there is a great opportunity for the Bedfordshire outfit to win promotion back to the Championship through the play-offs, with Wilshere's side currently four points off the top six.
Despite this gap, Luton are one of the best sides in the division in one particular aspect and if they are to close Bradford City down, this will be the reason why supporters may be getting excited at Kenilworth Road for another play-off campaign.
League One is never easy, and while there are some historically huge clubs in the division, there is consistent proof that this does not matter with the likes of Bolton Wanderers and Huddersfield Town having been stuck in the third tier for more than one season at the very least.

Therefore, the Hatters know that they have to find a different way to win in this league, and they can ill-afford to be stuck below the Championship for longer than they want and need to be. Being efficient is vital, especially in the attacking third. Playing the best football does not always bring success in League One.
Luton are in the top three for possession in 2025/26, averaging 57.7% per game. However, it is their incredible numbers going forward that will be a cause for concern for the rest of the play-off chasing sides. Wilshere's team have missed just 33 of their 55 big chances so far this season.
Meanwhile, top of the table Cardiff City have missed 60. That does not mean that the Hatters are not creating enough, as they do have an xG of 42.6 and have found the back of the net 40 times. What it does show, is that the chances they do create are high quality, and in turn, they are efficient in front of goal.
This weekend, Luton make the trip to the Welsh capital and face the Bluebirds at the Cardiff City Stadium. It's a clash that Wilshere will be looking forward to, but it is also his biggest challenge yet since taking charge of the club.
Cardiff have only dropped points in 11 games in League One this season, and a 3-0 away victory over Rotherham United on Saturday is just further proof of the talent that they have at their disposal and Brian Barry-Murphy is going all out for the League One title.

With 18 points separating the two sides at this moment in time, this is the Bluebirds' game to lose. However, Luton's efficiency in the final third will be an incredible threat to the home side and they will have to be at their best to extend their unbeaten run.
The Hatters need a positive result to ensure that the gap to the top six does not increase, and therefore it is vital that they are not wasteful in front of goal.
