The most expensive Premier League transfers ranked as Manchester City splash £116m to land Nottingham Forest star Elliot Anderson

5. Enzo Fernandez - Benfica to Chelsea (£106.8m)

Chelsea broke the British transfer record to sign Enzo Fernandez from Benfica in January 2023. The Argentine midfielder had shone as his nation won the World Cup a month earlier, with Chelsea opting to activate the release clause in his Benfica contract.

The Portuguese side had only signed Fernandez from River Plate for around £15m six months earlier, before banking a huge profit following his performances in Qatar.

4. Moises Caicedo - Brighton to Chelsea (£115m)

Chelsea have spent some huge sums in recent transfer windows and few clubs have benefitted more thanBrighton. The West Londoners have signed Robert Sanchez, Marc Cucurella and Joao Pedro from the Seagulls for significant fees, alongside a record deal to land Moises Caicedo.

Amid competition fromLiverpool, Chelsea won the race to sign Caicedo in a deal that could reach £115m with add-ons.

3. Florian Wirtz - Bayer Leverkusen to Liverpool (£116m)

Liverpool broke the British transfer record for the first time in 30 years after signingFlorian Wirtz from Bayer Leverkusen in 2025.

Wirtz had won back-to-back Bundesliga Player of the Season awards in Leverkusen, and was a key part of the club's first-ever league German title in 2023/24.

Elliot Anderson sits second on the list of the most expensivePremier League signings ever, with his £116m fee a fixed figure. Nottingham Forest had demanded a British record for Anderson, though ultimately accepted a deal that makes the 23-year-old the most expensive English footballer ever.

His transfer to the Etihad caps a remarkable rise for Anderson, who signed from Newcastle as part of a PSR-motivated deal just two seasons ago. That transfer was valued at around £15m, inclusive of goalkeeper Odysseas Vlachodimos heading in the opposite direction. Incredible business from Forest.

1. Alexander Isak - Newcastle to Liverpool (£125m)

Having signed Wirtz earlier in the summer, Liverpool broke the British record for the second time in one window last summer. After a summer-long pursuit, the Reds signed Alexander Isak from Newcastle for £125m on deadline day.

The Swedish striker endured a trouble first season with injuries impacting his output, and will hope to rediscover his best level at Anfield. He had scored 62 goals in just 109 games at St James' Park.
