Teun Koopmeiners has finally found some confidence in his new Juventus role and can leave circa 60 million doubts (including bonuses) behind him.
The former Atalanta player had felt the pressure of that €60m paid by Juve a couple of summers ago to take him away from Bergamo, having struggled to replicate that kind of form in Turin.
They had to go back to the basics, such as his good feet, which is the main reason why a change of position to the left side of a three-man defence is the ideal short-cut to start quality moves from the back.

Luciano Spalletti’s idea worked, Koopmeiners is playing with a whole new spirit, he no longer feels that pressure, and if he had made the most of that big opportunity to score in yesterday’s 2-1 win over Cagliari, then it would’ve been a perfect Saturday for the Dutchman.
Now the issue is waiting to figure out what decisions Spalletti will make when Gleison Bremer returns to the defence, as we could see Koopmeiners return to his midfield origins.
In any case, this phase has already been fundamental to restore some of the self-belief that he had visibly lost.
