The road to recovery for Chelsea Women striker Sam Kerr has been long and arduous.

The 32-year-old suffered an ACL injury during a warm-weather training camp in Morocco back in January 2024, but her last start for the London club came even earlier - in a Champions League meeting with BK Häcken on December 20, 2023.
Kerr was first welcomed back into the first-team fold in September, coming off the bench in Chelsea’s second Women’s Super League game of the season and finding the net against Aston Villa.
She has featured in a handful of matches since, but this evening’s Champions League clash with St. Pölten marks the striker’s first start in a staggering 692 days.
It’s fair to say Chelsea are cruising in Austria, leading 2-0 at the break courtesy of goals from Wieke Kaptein and Catarina Macario.
