Chelsea were hoping to get £20m for Sterling, but most important they wanted to get his reported wages of in excess of £300,000 per week off the books.

Bayern Munich made Raheem Sterling enquiry

Sterling made it clear his transfer preference was to remain in London, and he did have interest from the likes of Crystal Palace, West Ham and Fulham.

However, Chelsea received no offers for Sterling on deadline day, and he’s now going to remain at Cobham training on his own until at least January.

Chelsea are thought to be reluctant to terminate Sterling’s contract, and he made it clear he wasn’t open to a move to Saudi Arabia or Turkey.

However, The Telegraph have reported Bayern made an enquiry for Sterling on deadline day when they were in negotiations for Nicolas Jackson.

The report adds Napoli were also interested, but for reasons which are unclear the England international is reluctant to move abroad or even leave London.

Axel Disasi to remain at Chelsea

Sterling isn’t the only one who’s set to remain at Chelsea until at least January, with Axel Disasi also falling into that category.

The Frenchman spoke about possibly forcing his way back in at Chelsea, but Maresca made it clear there’s no way back for any members of the bomb squad, leaving them facing a bleak few months.
