Jose Mourinho’s latest stint as the Real Madrid manager has officially begun, and the manager is already overseeing training sessions with the existing players.

Over the next few weeks, several first-team stars will return to the dynamics after the post-World Cup breaks, and the manager will look to have the team well-drilled with his ideas by the time the first official game of the season arrives.

He is, however, not alone in achieving the said objective and has assembled an all-star coaching team to help him out in his managerial stint.

AS now brings to light the two latest changes he has made to his coaching staff.

Two big changes

As reported by the Spanish outlet, the first change Mourinho has overseen is the arrival of a sports physiologist Sandro Carrico.

As a physiologist specialising in sports science, Carrico worked with Mourinho during his time at Benfica and held a leading role at Benfica Lab.

He now joins the manager at Real Madrid where he will look to bring his expertise on the body’s adaptation to sporting stress and its management.

The second major change is in the position of the team’s goalkeeping coach.

Luis Llopis, who was a critical part of both Zinedine Zidane and Carlo Ancelotti’s teams in the past, has been removed as the goalkeeping coach of the first-team and it remains to be seen if he is permanently removed or shifted to another role.

Instead, Nuno Santos has been brought in as his replacement and will oversee the training of Thibaut Courtois, Andriy Lunin and the academy keepers as well.

He has already worked closely with Mourinho at multiple clubs including at Tottenham Hotspur, AS Roma and Benfica.

With the two changes, Mourinho’s seven-man coaching staff at Real Madrid is finally closed and it is safe to say that it is an all-star setup.

Heading the assistant team is Joao Tralhao who is Mourinho’s trusted assistant and right-hand man. Pedro Machado will be the second member of the staff, also as an assistant coach to the new manager.

Former Real Madrid midfielder Sami Khedira has also been brought in by the Portuguese head coach and will serve as another assistant.

Roberto Merella will oversee the tactical preparation as the analyst while Antonio Dias will be responsible for the physical fitness and training. Finally, Nuno Santos completes the list as the goalkeeping coach.
