West Ham are reportedly interested in a Coventry City attacking pair

West Ham United have been laughed at for their reported interest in a couple of Coventry City players.
The Sky Blues have emerged as the Championship’s standout package this season, blowing the rest of the division away with their goalscoring ability.
Frank Lampard’s side lead the second-tier by five points after 21 matches and enjoy a 12-point buffer back to Preston North End in third. They netted 50 times in their first 18 games, losing just once in that time period.
Naturally, these performances have been down to a number of Coventry’s players performing to an extremely high standard. As a result of this, teams from the Premier League have been linked with some of their star operators.

Whilst Coventry have been impressive in all departments this season, their attack has been the division’s best by a country mile.
This has led teams from the Premier League to sniff around at some of the Sky Blues’ forwards, in an attempt to boost their own frontlines.
In a recent report made by ExWHUEmployee via West Ham Zone, the East London outfit are monitoring both Ellis Simms and Haji Wright.
When queried on West Ham’s transfer interest in the Sky Blues pair, Football League World’s Coventry City fan pundit, Chris Deez, believes that the Hammers should be aiming much higher when looking to recruit some new attacking options.
“These links say a lot about West Ham's scouting, the quality of it and how it has quite clearly deteriorated over the years,” stated Chris.
“I think if West Ham are genuinely looking at Simms, then they might as well already accept relegation now. Sims has been in good form, but on what planet is Ellis Simms a Premier League player?
“Haji, I can sort of understand it more because at least he's a USA international. He came from the Turkish League, so he's played at a decent standard before.
“If they want to offer us £20m, £25m, I will snap their hands off and drive Haji there myself. Thanks for the service, Haji, but I want him far, far away from this club.”

Although a huge offer for Wright or Simms could majorly boost Coventry’s financial status, that won’t be their primary concern at this moment in time.
Instead, all eyes will be on achieving promotion to the Premier League. The best way the Sky Blues can manage this is by continuing on their current trajectory, without letting any of their core components leave.
Wright and Simms have scored 15 league goals between them this season, acting as pivotal figures for Coventry at different points in the campaign. To lose this output would be a heavy blow for Lampard, even if a sale brought in a lot of money.
There is no guarantee that the CBS Arena outfit would be able to replicate their figures with a new addition, which isn’t a risk they can run in their current position.
