Flamengo face Internacional on Wednesday in the 21st round of the Brasileirão, and director of football José Boto reiterated his belief they can sign Thiago Almada while accepting the move is complex.

"Thiago Almada is a player who interests us and we are working on it. It is not an easy signing for several reasons, but we are working and I am confident we will manage it," he said. He told Prime Video.

"Talking is easy, doing is harder. In negotiations we want the best conditions possible, which often needs time and patience. The fans and the coach want the player here, but he will arrive when it is possible."

Flamengo have recently rejected two European offers, with Aston Villa of England and Besiktas of Türkiye both bidding 10 million euros for Emerson Royal and Léo Pereira respectively.

"Everything is sellable, but it depends on the price and the replacement. If it is not possible to replace, we do not sell. We will not sell to become weaker, and I do not like to comment on negotiations because it usually harms the deal," he added.

Talks with Atlético Madrid over Almada are progressing, with the fee around 27 million euros, rising if bonuses and performance clauses are met.

Boto also met agent William Bento on Tuesday in Porto Alegre to discuss Luiz Henrique at the team hotel. Flamengo are taking a measured approach, with Zenit valuing the forward at 35 million euros.
