Brentford came from behind to claim a convincing 3-1 victory over Newcastle United.
The Magpies took the lead midway through the first half when Harvey Barnes capitalised on a loose ball in the box, darting past two defenders before firing beneath Caoimhin Kelleher.
The opener looked set to give the visitors early momentum, but the Bees began to assert themselves, with long throws from Michael Kayode causing constant problems and forcing Nick Pope into a couple of smart saves before the break.
The equaliser eventually arrived just before the hour. Kayode’s long throw into the area caused confusion, with Sven Botman only managing to flick it, allowing Kevin Schade to nod into an unguarded net and level the scores.
Newcastle then suffered a further blow when Dan Burn was penalised for a challenge on Dango Ouattara, picking up a second yellow card in the process. Igor Thiago stepped up to convert the resulting penalty, giving Brentford the lead with just over ten minutes remaining.
Thiago added a third in stoppage time after Malick Thiaw failed to deal with a through ball, completing a late double and sealing a deserved three points for the hosts.
