The Arsenal legend was part of the last team to win the Premier League title
Thierry Henry has celebrated Arsenal’s first Premier League title win in 22 years.
Henry was part of the last Arsenal team that were crowned champions of England in 2004, when Arsene Wenger’s side went the entire league campaign undefeated to earn the ‘Invincibles’ moniker.
The long wait for another league title is now over for the Gunners after Manchester City failed to beat Bournemouth in their penultimate fixture on Tuesday evening.
Having fallen behind shortly before half-time at the Vitality Stadium, Man City needed to score at least two goals without reply to take the title race into the final day.
They managed one as Erling Haaland lashed the ball into the back of the net from close range deep into second half stoppage-time, but there was to be no further drama on the south coast.
Reacting to the result and Arsenal’s subsequent title win, in a post on Instagram, Henry wrote: “From Highbury seats to the Emirates - Arsenal Nation, finally we can celebrate.
“Special thanks to this generation - finally now my kids saw us winning a title.”
Arsenal will officially be presented with the Premier League trophy after their final match of the campaign against Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park on Sunday.
From there, attentions shift towards a second-ever Champions League final against holders Paris Saint-Germain in Budapest on May 30 as the Gunners bid to complete an historic double.
Mikel Arteta, meanwhile, has told his players to "we made history" after Arsenal were crowned champions of England.
He said: "We made history again, together. I cannot be happier, prouder for everybody that is involved in this football club. Let’s enjoy the moment.
