Former Hoffenheim and Stuttgart manager Pellegrino Matarazzo believes Moises Caicedo can become the best defensive midfielder in the world.
Caicedo was once again outstanding for the Blues last season and started all 38 of their Premier League games as they qualified for the Champions League.
The Ecuador international also scored in the Conference League final, and played a key role in the Club World Cup success, putting in another impressive performance in the final.
Caicedo initially struggled following his then British record transfer from Brighton in the summer of 2023, but found his feet over the second half of his debut season.
However, under Enzo Maresca the 23-year-old has gone to a different level, and has established himself as one of the best in the world.

Caicedo was arguably the standout midfielder in the Premier League last season, and it’s scary to think he could get even better.
Maresca labelled Caicedo as one of the world’s best last season, and Matarazzo believes the Ecuadorian can become the world’s best.
“It’s just a great team and when I see (Moises) Caicedo, how he plays, oh man,” he told The Athletic.
“This guy is amazing. If I had a dream team, Caicedo would definitely be a part of that. For me, he will be the best No.6 in the world.”
Midfield is arguably Chelsea’s strongest area and they have an array of quality options available to them along side Caicedo.
