Lesson learned, and on to the next one. The result in Monterrey is now behind them, and Club Deportivo Guadalajara is fully focused on this Saturday’s match against Club Puebla at the Estadio AKRON, where the Chivahermanos have consistently acted as the team’s 12th player, turning it into a true fortress.
Ricardo Marín, who spoke to the media in the mixed zone before the final training session, emphasized that the team has the quality to handle any situation. Chivas is aiming to set a new record of 12 consecutive home matches unbeaten and secure its 11th win of the tournament.
Ricardo Marín’s comments (mixed zone)
“We know it’s very important for us to get the three points. That’s what coach Gabriel Milito has told us, and it’s a commitment we all share. We want to finish at the top of the table, and we know tomorrow is a key match. Finishing first and hosting playoff games at home can give us a huge advantage, especially with our fans behind us.”
“The result against Tigres came at the right moment. It showed us what we might be lacking and what we can improve. It was a tough blow, but also a reality check at a time when we still have three matches left to finish the tournament strong and prepare for the playoffs.”
“Since preseason, the coach told us we’re aiming for the top. We embraced his idea, and we depend on ourselves. We have a strong squad—whoever plays can deliver. We’re confident we’ll do things the right way.”
“We know some players might leave for national team duty, and that’s tough because they’re important. But we trust the depth of our squad. Others have stepped in and performed well. We know we have what it takes to fight for the title.”
“We would’ve liked to have a full squad for the playoffs, but we knew this situation could happen. The quality we have allows anyone stepping in to perform well. The playing style the coach gave us is so well understood that whoever plays can execute it.”
“It’s a special match for me. I had a stint there, and it helped me grow a lot as both a person and a player.”
“We understand the responsibility of wearing this jersey. Whether you play 90 minutes or 5, you have to give your best. We see it as a great opportunity.”
“We’re eager to get on the field and show that we’re not the team people saw in Monterrey. We’ve already identified what we need to improve to close the tournament the right way.”
“My motivation comes every day—just knowing I represent the biggest club in Mexico. Being a father also drives me. I train alongside great strikers, and I just want to learn and perform when I get my chance.”
“We’re amazed by our fans. Wherever we go, there’s always a sea of red and white. We’re very grateful. Against Pumas, when we were behind, they pushed us to get the draw. Without them, we wouldn’t have achieved that.”
“It’s a goal we set from the beginning of the tournament. With three matches left, we depend on ourselves to secure the top spot. We’re having a great campaign—we just need to finish strong heading into the playoffs.”
