Thomas Frank says Spurs may not need to replace Heung-min Son, following his departure for LAFC.
Son has left the club after more than a decade with Spurs, in which he became the club’s fourth record goalscorer and fifth record appearance holder.
Frank praised the forward but believes that his side have enough young talent already in the squad to cope with Son’s exit.
“Sonny was a key player for 10 seasons,” Frank said. “He has left the club. We have both good young players in Mathys (Tel) and Wilson (Odobert) and they are really promising and can perform.
“Brennan can also play that side. As I said, we are in the market. If we think we can find the right one, one who can improve the team, then he will be signed. If we can’t, then not.”
As well as being the talisman for the team, Son was also the captain but the Dane is adamant that Spurs have leaders that are ready to step up.
“I think there’s definitely players that can step up and replace him in terms of leadership.”
Even though Frank believes he has leaders in the squad, he is still yet to pick his captain, and when asked about it, he said: “Getting closer, yeah, but haven’t taken a decision yet.
“It’s a classic one: a leader. The guy that can be there, the guy that can lead the team on and off the pitch. get the group together and be there in tough times.
“But there can never only be one. There needs to be more than one because a leader can always have a bad day and others need to step up.
“I think we in general prefer one that can communicate verbally”
