Tottenham manager Thomas Frank believes he will be given time to get things right by Spurs’ owners, despite a run of poor results.
Tottenham have not won a game since 4 November, when they scored four against Copenhagen in the Champions League. Since then, they have drawn with Manchester United and lost to PSG, Fulham and Arsenal.
The team were booed off in their most recent loss to Fulham, during which they were 2-0 down within six minutes of the match, but Frank, only appointed this summer, still believes his job is not under threat.
“Yeah, I’m very confident,” the Dane said when asked if he believed the Tottenham ownership would be patient with him. “I think the ownership seem like good guys.
“Intelligent people that know how to run a business. They are learning about football, learning more about how they become owners.
“I think when we’re dealing with intelligent people, they can see every successful dynasty, every successful club is taking time. You don’t have one showcase.
“Yeah, you can have one where you maybe win one year or in the second year, but you can’t sustain it if you don’t build something sustainable. Impossible.”
At his previous two clubs, Frank struggled to find form at the beginning of his tenure. At Brentford he lost eight of his opening 10 games in charge, and Brondby failed to win any of their opening eight matches under him.
The Dane explained that regardless of recent results, he knows how to build a football club.
“At Brondby I think we didn’t win in eight, and then we were unbeaten in nine,” he said. “At Brentford were the same, we lost eight out of ten, and then we were unbeaten in ten.
“Now it’s a little bit the other way around, I just know that I build consistency and I build competitiveness and culture, and that will always take a bit of time.
“The big thing here is that we want to build it, while we need to compete every single week, three times a week or two times a week, depending on how you see it.”
