Tottenham Hotspur boss Thomas Frank was full of praise for Heung-min Son and Cristian Romero whose futures at the club are both unclear.

Vice-captain Romero said in April that, “LaLiga is the one league left to play in. I would love to, to tell you the truth,” and captain Son only has 11 months left on his contract with his future still yet to be decided.

Despite Frank not being clear on their futures, he insists that both players have been training well since he took over.

“Two top players, Sonny has been here for 10 years and finally got his well-deserved trophy in the summer.

“Cristian Romero, World Cup winner, Copa America winner twice, very important for us. Both have trained well and set the standards. Both will play tomorrow and I’m very happy.”

Tottenham have been busy in the transfer window this summer making Kevin Danso and Mathys Tel’s loan deals permament. They have also brought in Kota Takai and Mohammed Kudus.

Frank says that Kudus will be an important player for Spurs this season.

“I think it’s a great signing from the club. I think it’s top work from Daniel, Vinai and Johan, getting a very good player in early in the preseason, so we can start working with him.

“I think he gave us a bit of that unpredictability in the game. I think this is what we want, actions up top. I think his slight passes are top.” he added.

“I think his finishing is very good and he is almost the perfect age to perform, but also to get to the next level.”

Spurs also agreed to pay Morgan Gibbs-White’s £60 million release clause. However they have not been able to get the deal over the line, as Nottingham Forest claim that the north London club found out about the midfielder’s release clause illegally.

The new Spurs manager did not want to talk about players not at the club.

“You know me well so I will use what I’ve always said and that is that I won’t speak about players from outside the club.”
