Thomas Frank says he only wants to sign players 100 per cent committed to Tottenham after seeing Eberechi Eze decide to join Arsenal.
Spurs had agreed a deal with both Crystal Palace and star man Eze on Wednesday as lengthy negotiations finally appeared to be reaching a conclusion, only to see the Gunners swoop in and hijack the deal just hours later.
Eze, a boyhood Arsenal fan, is set to be announced as a new £67.5million signing by Arsenal over the weekend, leaving Spurs to miss out on the second midfield target of the summer after the failed pursuit of Morgan Gibbs-White.
And as Spurs look again at the transfer market, Frank says only players committed to the cause at Spurs will be signed in the next ten days.
“There’s been a lot of rumours, a lot of players [linked] and also players I’ve thought, ‘oh he’s been linked with us, interesting’, where a lot of times definitely there’s nothing in it,” Frank said.
“That’s part of the business, there must be someone out there it’s good for them to put the rumours out there. Anyway, there’s been a lot of links, there will be a lot of links in the future.
"To generalise that, to make it very, very clear, I don't want any players that don't want to come to the club and wear this fantastic badge.
"We don't want them here, I think that's very clear. And also I’m pretty sure the fans feel the same. If they don't want to put the fantastic shirt over their head, play for the badge, played for the club, really enjoy it, no problem. Then we don't want them there. That's a key message."
He added: "Whoever the player is, whoever they support, I actually do not care too much about. We all have a past. The main thing is if the player wants to come. If they're from Spain, Denmark, Brazil, doesn’t matter. If they they want to come, perfect."
Asked if Spurs will be making further signings before the transfer window shuts, Frank said: "I'm pretty confident that we will sign a player before the end of the window."
