According to L'Équipe, Thomas Partey was refused entry to Canada on Friday due to his indictment on five counts of rape and sexual assault, meaning he will miss Ghana’s World Cup opener.

The Black Stars face Panama in the night between Wednesday and Thursday, with kick-off at one in the morning. The 2026 tournament runs from 11 June to 19 July.

The alleged offences involving the 32-year-old are said to have taken place between 2021 and 2022 while he was at Arsenal.

He pleaded not guilty in September 2025 and is due to face a new trial on 2 November 2026.

Partey now plays for Villarreal.

After Panama, Ghana are scheduled to meet England on 23 June at 22:00 and Croatia on 27 June at 23:00 in the United States, which has not barred his entry.
