Sport Bild reports that Werder Bremen and Borussia Mönchengladbach are among the clubs interested in acquiring Hertha BSC right back Johnjoe Kenny. The Kölner Rundschau adds a third Bundesliga club into the mix, going so far as to suggest that the 28-year-old is actively negotiating with FC Köln.
Kenny has now been linked with a move to four German top flight clubs this season. Mainz 05 were the first team reported to have interest in the former Everton man, but may not be pursuing him anymore being well stocked at the fullback positions.
Kenny brings with him plenty of top flight experience (60 Bundesliga appearances for Hertha and Schalke 04) and is available on a free once his current contract expires at the end of the month. Bremen and Gladbach may only be able to offer him a back-up role.
A move to Köln would make a great deal of sense for Kenny, but Mainz could easily rejoin the race if – as has been rumored – converted French right wingback Anthony Caci moves to the Premier League this summer.
