The postponement of the match between Inter and Roma, initially scheduled for Saturday 26 April, is now certain.

The decision came after the official announcement of Pope Francis’ funeral, which will be held on Saturday in Rome.

Now, Lega Serie A is working to find a new date for the recovery of the match at San Siro, taking into account the Nerazzurri’s European and Coppa Italia commitments.

As reported by Il Corriere dello Sport, the first hypothesis depends on Inter’s path in the Coppa Italia: if the Nerazzurri do not qualify for the final, the match with Roma could be recovered in a window between 11 and 18 May.

If Inzaghi’s team were to overcome Milan in the semi-final (the return leg is scheduled for Wednesday 23 April at 9 pm, with the first leg drawing 1-1), a further postponement would be considered, between 18 and 25 May, that is, between the penultimate and final matchday of Serie A.

In the last few hours, a third option has also emerged, considered difficult but not impossible: playing Inter-Roma as early as Sunday 27 April, probably at lunchtime or at 3 pm.

A solution that would however force the Nerazzurri to give up a day of rest before the Champions League semi-final against Barcelona, scheduled for Wednesday 30 April in Spain.

The league, for its part, is pushing for the recovery to take place before Napoli-Turin, scheduled for Sunday at 8:45 pm.

Everything will be clearer after the Coppa Italia derby. The final arrangement of the calendar will depend on that result.
