Newcastle United’s Sandro Tonali is keen to remain in the Premier League this summer amid interest in the midfielder from Manchester United.
Tonali has been linked with an exit from St James’ Park with the Magpies set to miss out on Champions League football.
The Italy international was subject of an enquiry from Arsenal in the January transfer window, while Manchester City and Manchester United have monitored his situation. The latter are understood to have placed Tonali high on their shortlist of potential midfield additions.
Repots earlier this year suggested Tonali’s preference was a return to Serie A, though that stance has now been refuted.
Fabrizio Romano is reporting that the 25-year-old has no plans to return to Italy this summer and is ‘ready to stay in the Premier League’.
Newcastle value the midfielder at over £80m, a fee that looks out of reach for Italian clubs. If Newcastle, as expected, fail to qualify for the Champions League, it is understood they will need to sell at least one of the club’s prized assets in order to strengthen for the 2026-27 campaign.
Alongside Tonali, Lewis Hall, Anthony Gordon, Bruno Guimaraes and Tino Livramento are all attracting Premier League and European interest.
