Toni Fruk of Rijeka is a player Celtic should be targeting

Toni Fruk, a player we should be targeting if we had any ambitions at all…

We are in dire need of new faces to freshen up and strengthen our squad, that’s no secret. The centre forward area is the most obvious area in need of urgent attention, but several other areas are just in as much need of being bolstered or upgraded.

One such area is the centre of midfield, with a talented playmaker required, one who also carries a genuine goal threat, and a name that would fill that void, and more importantly who is well within our reach is a player by the name of Toni Fruk.

24 year old Fruk who plays for HNK Rijeka in his native Croatia is a sublimely talented playmaker, technically gifted, and has a great eye for goal. He’s a real star in the making. Fruk has 11 goals and 2 assists in 30 appearances this campaign for Rijeka, and boasts an overall record of 30 goals and 31 assists in 118 appearances for his current club, proof of his undoubted ability.

Fruk has also made five appearances for his country, scoring one goal and is destined for greater things, if we had any ambition at all we would ask the question and attempt to snare the player before he inevitably slips beyond our reach.

Contracted to Rijeka until 2027, and rated at £9 million on tranfermarket, Fruk is well within our reach and a player who we should be going all out to add to our squad.

We’ve not had a central midfielder in the mould of Fruk since Tom Rogic, a player capable of sheer brilliance with the added ability of scoring goals from the middle of the park. Reo Hatate was once that player, but is entering his last days as a Celtic player. Time for some new blood, and Toni Fruk is in my view the perfect answer.
