Luis Díaz has long been more than just a sporting difference-maker for FC Bayern. The Colombian is impressing on the pitch with strong performances – and is also putting up impressive numbers off the pitch. The transfer of the attacking star is therefore increasingly developing into a real win-win situation for the record champions

Díaz underlined his class once again in the 2:1 away win against Real Madrid, scoring the opener at the Bernabéu and showing how perfectly he fits into Vincent Kompany’s system. After the game, he told ESPN: „We had analyzed Madrid and the scene happened exactly as we had prepared it.“ A sentence that not only reflects his intelligence, but also Bayern’s meticulous preparation

Díaz convinces athletically – Bayern offense on record course

With currently 41 goals in 40 competitive matches, Díaz is one of the most influential figures in Munich’s attack. Together with Harry Kane and Michael Olise, he forms one of the most dangerous attacking trios in Europe. Bayern have already broken the 100 Bundesliga goals mark – thanks in part to the Colombian’s consistently strong performances

A look at the past shows just how extraordinary these figures are. Even Leroy Sané ‚only‘ scored 29 goals in 45 games in his best Bayern season in 2021/22. Díaz has long since surpassed this mark and is delivering exactly what those responsible had hoped for when signing him

Sporting director Max Eberl had already emphasized when the attacking player was introduced: „We wanted pace, goals, assists, quality in one-on-one situations and a high level of reliability.“ Díaz brings all of these qualities to the pitch week in, week out

But the 29-year-old’s influence goes far beyond the sporting arena. As the Abendzeitung newspaper reports, FC Bayern has seen a huge increase in international marketing since signing Díaz – especially in Colombia

According to the report, jersey sales from the South American country have risen by a whopping 400%. The number of visitors to the online store has also increased by around 200%, making Díaz one of the top five Bayern players globally in terms of merchandising, behind the likes of Manuel Neuer and Harry Kane

The reason is obvious: in his home country, Díaz is considered a folk hero. His story of rising from humble beginnings to the top of the European game inspires millions. FC Bayern makes targeted use of this appeal – for example via Spanish-language club channels, on which Díaz is regularly presented as the face of the club

According to AZ, Colombia has now become the fastest-growing market for the record champions, meaning that the Díaz effect is not only huge in sporting terms, but also economically

The attacking star himself sums it up aptly: „The move to FC Bayern was the right choice.“ A statement that nobody in Munich currently doubts – either on or off the pitch.
