The club said in a statement that the 19-year-old has signed a long-term contract.
Souza called the move an incredible feeling, saying he grew up watching the Premier League and that joining Spurs fulfils a childhood dream. He said it is a major step in his development, that the league differs from Brazil, and that he is eager for the challenge and to integrate into the squad.
Head coach Thomas Frank said he is very pleased to add Souza, praising his vision and technical quality. He said the club believe they have signed one of the brightest left-backs in the world, and that he can contribute now and in the future.
Born in Mauá, São Paulo, Souza joined Santos at nine in 2016 and progressed through every youth level. He made his senior debut against Mirassol in the Campeonato Paulista in January last year, then his Série A bow in May, and has 24 first-team appearances.
He has 12 call-ups for Brazil Under-17s and played five matches at the FIFA Under-17 World Cup in Indonesia in November 2023, when Brazil reached the quarter-finals.
