Tottenham captain Son Heung-Min continues to shine on the international stage, and his latest update is sure to delight Spurs supporters.
The South Korea star was instrumental in his nation’s 3-1 victory over Kuwait this week, a result that keeps their World Cup qualification campaign on track.
But it’s not just his on-field performance grabbing headlines, Son has also offered some reassuring news about his fitness.
In the match against Kuwait, Son reached an impressive milestone by earning his 130th cap for South Korea.
Even more remarkable, he added another goal to his international tally, taking his total to 50. That achievement moves him closer to legendary status in his home country, as he now sits just eight goals behind Cha Bum-kun, South Korea’s all-time top scorer.
For Spurs fans, Son’s form is exciting, but his physical condition has been a lingering concern. The forward, who played 90 minutes in Tottenham's last Premier League outing, was substituted after just over an hour against Kuwait.
Despite this, Son struck an optimistic tone in his post-match interview, assuring everyone that he’s back to full fitness.
“I am feeling great. I am back to my normal condition. I’d like to play at 100 percent in the next match,” Son stated.
He also took a moment to praise Tottenham’s medical staff, highlighting their role in his recovery. “They’ve been taking great interest in my health and protecting me,” he added.
However, not everyone is entirely convinced. South Korea head coach Hong Myung-bo suggested that Son is still navigating his way through a recovery process.
“He’s currently struggling with injuries and is in a phase of repeated recovery,” Hong explained. “He played 90 minutes in the last match (for Tottenham), but when I watched him today, he wasn’t at his best. We need to continue protecting Son Heung-min for the future.”
This back-and-forth will certainly pique the interest of Tottenham fans, who know how pivotal Son is to their season. With Spurs in strong form under Ange Postecoglou, ensuring Son’s health remains a top priority.
For now, Son looks set to lead South Korea in their next qualifier before returning to Hotspur Way. If his words are anything to go by, Spurs fans can rest assured that their talisman is ready to give his all both at home and abroad.
