It is the second time in the space of eight months that the Lewis Family have invested heavily into the club

The Lewis Family have provided a £100million capital injection into Tottenham to underline their commitment to the club amid interest from potential buyers.

Spurs’ owners have turned down interest from several parties to buy the club and have reiterated they are not looking to sell despite successive 17th-place finishes in the Premier League.

While Spurs sources have suggested that the investment is purely for working capital rather than transfers, this is the second time in the space of eight months that the Lewis Family have invested £100m into the club.

Spurs have been aggressive in the early weeks of the transfer market, signing defenders Marcos Senesi, Andy Robertson and Jan Paul van Hecke.

While Spurs sources deny the investment will be used on transfers. By increasing the club’s working capital, they have more money to spend in general, whether that be on transfers or the training ground improvements detailed by chief executive Vinai Venkatesham in the minutes from the latest Fan Advisory Board meeting this month.

In the recently published minutes, Venkatesham stated that work was already underway to transform, among other things, the first-team gym, which Standard Sport understands has long since been considered far below the standards of Spurs’ competitors.

"Football and performance are now positioned at the centre of decision-making, which has led to numerous changes,” Venkatesham said.

“An example being work is underway to reshape the first-team environment in the training centre, including a new player briefing/tactical room, a complete transformation to the gym, changes to the player restaurant and making the building feel like a true performance environment.

“The close season is the first window where changes of this scale can be commenced."
