In a recent report, TUDN claimed that Tottenham Hotspur are set to rival Arsenal for Mainz midfielder Kaishu Sano this summer. It has been mentioned that Spurs are keeping a keen eye on the Japan international ahead of a potential move for him this off-season.

Sano’s Impressive Form In The Bundesliga

Sano enjoyed a solid campaign at the German club in the previous campaign when he put in a run of influential displays for them in the middle of the park. The 25-year-old featured in 48 matches for Mainz last season, netting a couple of goals and securing five assists across all fronts.

The Japanese talent is currently among the best central midfielders in his homeland. Thus, it is no wonder that Spurs are showing interest in recruiting him later this year.

His current contract at the German club will run out in the summer of 2028, which could make it tough for Tottenham to sign him on a cut-price deal this off-season.

Will Sano Be A Good Fit For Tottenham Hotspur Boss Roberto De Zerbi?

Sano loves a tackle and can scan the danger well to secure the ball back for his team inside his half. He usually clears the danger when the opposition are on the offensive and is a good passer of the ball as well.

The Japan international can shoot the ball with power from long range and has the vision to engineer some inviting chances for his teammates to score. Sano can even chip in by scoring and creating the odd goal for his team from midfield. However, only time will tell whether he can cope with the physical demands and high intensity of the Premier League if Spurs manage to sign him in this transfer window.
