In a recent post on X, respected journalist Fabrizio Romano stated that Tottenham Hotspur are set to sign Liverpool defender Andy Robertson. It has been claimed that Spurs have reached a verbal agreement to land the Scotland international on a free transfer this summer.

Robertson’s Important Role At Liverpool

Robertson proved his worth as a decent squad player for the Merseyside club in this campaign and managed to put in a few impressive displays on the left side of their defence. The 32-year-old has made 36 appearances for the Reds this season, scoring three goals and grabbing two assists on all fronts.

The Scottish talent is one of the most experienced left-backs in the Premier League. Therefore, it is no surprise that Tottenham have moved in so quickly to sign him this off-season.

Robertson is currently on an expiring contract at Anfield, so Spurs would do well to acquire his services on a free transfer in this summer transfer period.

Will Robertson Be A Good Signing For Tottenham Boss Roberto De Zerbi?

Robertson is a solid tackler of the ball and can scan the danger well to secure possession back for his side inside his half. He doesn’t mind clearing his lines when needed and is a tidy passer as well.

The Scottish sensation can even chip in by scoring and creating a few important goals for his team from the left flank. Robertson is primarily a left-back but can also operate as a left-sided wide player if asked to do so. He has got the experience and winning mindset to be a real asset in Tottenham‘s squad.

Robertson would bring more quality and experience to Spurs boss Roberto De Zerbi’s backline. He has what it takes to compete for a regular first-team spot at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in the coming years.

At 32, Robertson might still have a couple of good seasons left in him to play at a high level. Hence, he would be a great signing for Tottenham in the short term.
