Tottenham Hotspur have opened talks with Liverpool over a potential move for left-back Andy Robertson (31) as the Scotland captain weighs up his future ahead of the summer, according to reports from BBC Sport.

The 31-year-old is out of contract at Anfield at the end of the season and has yet to decide his next step, with regular football a priority as he looks towards the World Cup. Spurs are understood to have made an approach, although discussions remain at an early stage and no agreement has been reached.

Robertson has been a defining figure of Liverpool’s modern era since joining from Hull City for £8m in 2017. He has made 363 appearances for the club and won nine major honours, including two Premier League titles and the Champions League. However, his role has diminished this season following the arrival of Milos Kerkez, starting just four league matches.

Liverpool head coach Arne Slot has praised Robertson’s professionalism amid reduced minutes, but any departure would leave the Reds light at left-back, potentially prompting the recall of Kostas Tsimikas from Roma.

For Tottenham, the move may appear unexpected given their existing options, with Destiny Udogie and Djed Spence both available. Yet the long-term injury to Ben Davies has reduced experience in the squad, and Robertson’s leadership and pedigree could offer Thomas Frank valuable authority during a challenging campaign.
