Tottenham Hotspur face a desperate fight for survival as they welcome in-form Brighton to north London today.
Spurs entered this matchweek in the relegation zone for the first time this season. They recently appointed Roberto De Zerbi to replace Igor Tudor and halt their catastrophic slide. However, the Italian suffered a difficult debut with a 2–1 defeat at Sunderland last weekend. Tottenham are currently two points adrift of 17th-placed West Ham with six matches remaining.
Brighton arrive at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium as the Premier League’s most clinical form side. Fabian Hurzeler’s men have won five of their last six top-flight fixtures. The Seagulls are currently ninth but dream of securing a European qualification spot. They will feel confident against a Spurs side that remains winless in the calendar year.
Cristian Romero is out for the season after suffering a knee injury against Sunderland. He joins James Maddison, Wilson Odobert, and Ben Davies on the long-term absentee list. Guglielmo Vicario remains sidelined following hernia surgery, meaning Antonin Kinsky continues in goal. Mohammed Kudus also misses out after a setback in his recovery from a thigh problem. Rodrigo Bentancur has returned to training but is unlikely to start this afternoon.
The visitors will be without captain Lewis Dunk as he serves a suspension. James Milner is also unavailable after missing the recent victory over Burnley. Hurzeler confirmed that Stefanos Tzimas and Adam Webster will miss the remainder of the season. Yankuba Minteh is expected to start on the wing ahead of Kaoru Mitoma. Otherwise, the Seagulls are unlikely to make significant changes to their starting eleven.
Spurs are the only Premier League side without a victory in 2026. They have failed to win any of their 14 matches since the turn of the year. This is their second-longest winless league run in club history. Tottenham have also suffered four consecutive home defeats ahead of this fixture.
Brighton have won five of their last six Premier League matches. Since Matchweek 27, they have collected more points than any other side. The Seagulls have also won their last three away games without conceding a goal. They look to become the first side to win four straight away games with clean sheets since 2011.
