Tottenham can secure their first victory of the 2024/25 season on Saturday afternoon when they host Everton in the Premier League.

Profligacy proved costly for the Lilywhites in their opener with Leicester City last Monday. Despite racking up 70% possession, 15 shots and seven efforts on target, Ange Postecoglou's side had to settle for a point following Jamie Vardy's second-half header. A frustrating way to begin the new campaign.

Everton may well prove the perfect opposition for Spurs this weekend, however, with the Toffees suffering a 3-0 defeat in their opening Premier League encounter with Brighton & Hove Albion. Injuries in defence offer Tottenham an enormous advantage heading into the fixture in north London.

Here is how Tottenham could line up for Everton's visit on Saturday.

GK: Guglielmo Vicario - Despite being tested infrequently against Leicester, Vicario still produced an important save to deny Vardy a brace. The Italian will have to be similarly focused against an Everton side unlikely to pepper his goal.

RB: Pedro Porro - The attack-minded right-back bagged a beautifully deft header last Monday but heads into the weekend as an injury doubt. The Spaniard should shake off a knock to offer his offensive expertise against the Toffees.

CB: Cristian Romero - It was Romero's lapse in concentration that left Vardy free to nod home at the King Power Stadium. A costly error from the recent Copa America champion, who needs to eradicate such moments from his game to be considered an elite central defender.

CB: Micky van de Ven - Van de Ven's pace may not be tested this weekend up against Dominic Calvert-Lewin, but his physicality and aerial ability certainly will. Recent evidence suggests he should keep the Everton forward quiet.

LB: Destiny Udogie - Understandably lacked match sharpness on his Premier League return following a long injury layoff. However, with Everton missing their senior right-backs, his overlapping runs could prove decisive in north London.

DM: Pape Matar Sarr - Rodrigo Bentancur's injury against Leicester was a nasty one and should see him ruled out of contention for Everton's visit. Sarr started alongside him at the King Power and should retain his place.

DM: Yves Bissouma - After being suspended by the club for the league opener, Bissouma should make his return to the starting XI this weekend. He will be tasked with keeping the likes of Abdoulaye Doucoure and Iliman Ndiaye quiet.

RW: Brennan Johnson - Despite Dejan Kulusevski's sparkling pre-season form, it was Johnson who started on the right wing in the Midlands last time out. There's little evidence to suggest that Postecoglou will roll the dice against Everton.

AM: James Maddison - After pulling the strings with an impressive display against his former employers on Monday, Maddison will be aiming to produce a similarly impactful display against Everton. The England star can be the difference-maker in the final third.

LW: Son Heung-min - While far from his blistering best last time out, Son still showed glimpses of his brilliance against the Foxes. Everton's weakened right-hand side won't be relishing a meeting with the South Korean.

ST: Richarlison - Postecoglou has been dealt a blow with major summer signing Dominic Solanke ruled out of Saturday's game with an ankle issue. That could hand Richarlison the chance to remind everyone of his qualities against his former side.
