Tottenham were beaten 5-2 at Atlético de Madrid in the Champions League last 16 first leg on Tuesday, making it six defeats in a row in all competitions, the worst run in the club’s history.
It is also the worst current streak among the 96 teams across the five major leagues, according to L'Équipe. Spurs were founded in 1882.
The sequence of defeats, in order, came against Manchester United 0-2, Newcastle 1-2, Arsenal 1-4, Fulham 1-2 and Crystal Palace 1-3, before the trip to Madrid.
Igor Tudor, appointed just before the Arsenal match, has lost his first four games, the worst start made by a Tottenham manager.
Spurs visit Liverpool on Sunday at 17:30 in the Premier League, then host Atlético for the return next Wednesday. They are 16th, one point above the highest relegation place, and will be fighting to stay up.
