The Spanish giants are considering signing a new right-back in January after Dani Carvajal suffered a serious knee injury last weekend that is expected to see him miss the rest of the season.

Even though Carvajal’s contract has been extended until June 2026, he is now 32 and Real are in the market for a new long-term solution at right-back.

Trent Alexander-Arnold’s contract at Anfield expires next summer and he is seen as their top target, but Liverpool are hopeful he will commit to the Reds by signing a new deal.

Spurs defender Porro is also reportedly being tracked by Los Blancos, and he has seemingly welcomed the links.

He told Relevo in Spain: “It fills you with excitement, doesn't it? You have to be focused on your work, but hey, the fact that Real Madrid is interested in you is because you are doing things well. This is how I think on a day-to-day basis.

“Well, if that time has to come, it will come. And if it doesn't arrive, well, [I'll] continue working as before.”

Asked if he was ready to replace Carvajal, for Spain or Real, Porro added before the Nations League matches against Denmark and Serbia, per Football Espana: “Obviously yes, because as I told you, I try to work and give my best every day. If I get the opportunity to take that leap tomorrow, I will be prepared for that very reason.

“I will have much more experience. If you had told me this years ago, I would have told you I wasn't. Because I am honest. Let's see what happens.”

Porro has earned three caps for the Spanish national team and joined Spurs from Sporting CP last year. The right-back was on Manchester City’s books between 2019 and 2022 but never made a senior appearance for the reigning English champions.

Porro has started all of Tottenham’s Premier League matches so far this season, scoring their first goal of the season in the 1-1 draw with Leicester in August.
