Tottenham’s striker search has turned to Galatasaray’s Victor Osimhen, with reports over the past 24 hours linking the club with an initial move and a £50-55m valuation against a £65m price tag.

The talk fits a summer in which Spurs have shown a greater willingness to spend, but the claim remains uncorroborated and the suggested fee looks optimistic at this stage.

Osimhen’s pedigree is clear. He fired 31 goals in Napoli’s 2022/23 Scudetto season and has 76 in 104 across the past three years, marking him out as one of Europe’s most reliable finishers.

Tottenham have seen his threat first-hand, he struck twice in a 3-2 Europa League defeat in Istanbul in 2024 and was comfortably the standout performer on the night.

Rivals are said to be monitoring the situation, including Manchester United, Chelsea and Atlético Madrid. Any pursuit would be complicated by Osimhen’s contract, which has three years to run, a salary of €15m (£12.9m) and significant bonuses, while Galatasaray are likely to seek more than £65m after paying that sum to sign him.

Given the seller’s strong hand and no apparent need to cash in, Spurs would probably need to go well beyond £55m if interest hardens. For now, this feels like one of many Osimhen links, and it would be a surprise to see him in a white shirt by the start of September.
