As those responsible at FC Bayern have repeatedly emphasized, no new transfers are on the cards this winter. However, the Munich club have set their sights on a talented player from the island for the summer

According to English transfer insider Ben Jacobs , FC Bayern have expressed their interest in Chelsea defender Josh Acheampong. However, a deal with the 19-year-old defender is likely to be difficult, as the Blues are not currently planning to sell their youngster

The player himself is also not planning to leave London in the near future. Nevertheless, Munich are keeping a close eye on Acheampong’s playing time and are apparently preparing to strike if an opportunity arises to bring the defender to Munich next summer

However, should Acheampong be willing to move in the summer, the Bayern bosses will have to assert themselves against notable competition from the Premier League, as Jacobs reports that English giants Manchester City are also pushing for a transfer of the talented defender

Upamecano extension has priority

However, the purchase of a new defender would probably only become an issue at Säbener Straße if Dayot Upamecano does not extend his contract. His current contract expires in the summer, which is why the record champions are logically looking for alternatives in the event of a transfer

However, as sporting director Max Eberl recently revealed, Bayern are working flat out to reach an agreement with the Frenchman. „We’re talking. We’ve been talking for some time and are actually on the right track […] When there’s something to announce, we’ll announce it,“ he explained at the press conference ahead of the away game in Heidenheim

According to Eberl, there are „many arguments in favor of Bayern. But of course, there is probably also the argument ‚Why not try something else?“ Nevertheless, the Bayern boss is confident: „We want to and we’ll step on the gas. Then we’ll see how quickly we can do it.“
