Great to see so many young Newcastle United players, both homegrown and young talent signed from elsewhere, getting international recognition, especially with England.

The November 2024 Young Lions Under 18s squad included three from Newcastle United.

Trevan Sanusi and Leo Shahar have been regulars for the England Under 18s, this time joined for the first time by exciting 17 year old NUFC striker Sean Neave. The young forward has been in excellent goalscoring form this season and indeed last, in the younger age groups at NUFC. Hopefully they will be amongst the Newcastle United first team stars of the future.

Friday saw the England Under 18s play their Poland counterparts in Valencia. Newcastle’s Trevan Sanusi was key in a great move that saw Villa’s Ben Broggio open the scoring on 17 minutes but Poland hit back with three goals of their own. The Young Lions a little unlucky to lose, never mind by a two goal margin. Sean Neave got his first ever England Under 18s minutes from the bench, whilst Leeo Shahar was an unused sub.

Monday has seen the second and final match of this England Under 18s visit to Spain.

This time up against the Germany Under 18s.

Sean Neave making his first ever start for the Young Lions, Leo Shahar captaining the side, whilst Trevan Sanusi came off the bench in the second half.

However, a similar story to the game against Poland, though this time England not only didn’t deserve to lose, but actually played well enough to have won.

Germany though emerged 1-0 winners thanks to a first half goal, England just not able to get the goal(s) their general play deserved, especially after the break.

All good experience though for the Newcastle United trio and great to see so many NUFC players involved throughout the various England sides in these November internationals.
