Former player-turned pundit Troy Deeney has revealed how he thinks West Brom's opening day clash with Blackburn Rovers will pan out.

A new era will officially begin at The Hawthorns on Saturday, as Ryan Mason leads his Albion side into his first competitive fixture as Baggies boss.

His team will face a stern test to kick this new dawn off too, as Blackburn Rovers enter the 2025/26 season in superb pre-season form, and fresh off the back of a late Championship resurgence under Valerien Ismael that almost saw them sneak into the play-offs last term.

So, how does Deeney think the game will play out at The Hawthorns?

Speaking via his TikTok account, the 37-year-old said: "West Brom v Blackburn Rovers.

"I'm going to go for a draw in that game. I'm going to go for a Desmond, 2-2."

Saturday's game between Albion and Rovers will kick-off at 3pm.

When attempting to work out which team will defeat the other, turning to the history books and the data sheets can often be a very useful tool.
