Raul Asencio has had a difficult time since the arrival of Xabi Alonso as the head coach.

The young defender has found it difficult to impress the new manager, which has led to a loss to prevalence in the first-team.

Asencio has indeed found it difficult to become a viable first-team option for Alonso, falling behind the likes of Dean Huijsen, Antonio Rudiger and Eder Militao in the pecking order.

Besiktas eyeing move for Raul Asencio

As the struggles continue for Asencio, the young defender has now appeared on the radar of Turkish giants Besiktas, reports AS.

Although the transfer market in Spain has closed, players in La Liga are still eligible to join leagues where the window remains open, such as the Turkish league.

That is where Besiktas come into the fray. The Istanbul outfit have recently parted ways with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, bringing in Sergen Yalcın as the replacement.

The new coach is looking for a strong and fast centre-back, who can offer some stiff competition to the likes of Gabriel Paulista, Tiago Djalo and Felix Uduokhai.

Asencio, to that end, has emerged as a transfer priority for Besiktas, who are contacting Real Madrid to explore the possibility of a potential loan deal.

Besiktas, however, are not the only Turkish club interested in the services of Asencio, as Fenerbahce, too, had shown an interest.

But it is Besiktas who have shown most interest for the time being and are expected to push hard to try and secure the arrival of the Spaniard before the transfer deadline of September 12 in Turkey.

Real Madrid, though, are unlikely to allow Asencio to leave as the club will be wary of David Alaba, Militao and Rudiger’s injury concerns and would, therefore, like to retain depth in central defence.
