La Liga giants Barcelona have this week been tipped to go all the way in this season’s edition of the Champions League.

The Blaugrana’s latest backers? Jamie Carragher, and Micah Richards.

Barcelona, of course, enjoyed a fine campaign on the continent last time out.

After battling their way all the way to the competition’s final-4, the Blaugrana came within a whisker of clinching a finale berth.

After a last-gasp Inter Milan goal sent the semi-final tie to extra-time, though, it was the Nerazzurri who held their nerve to march on.

With a further year of experience under their belts, Hansi Flick’s squad are considered among the leading contenders for Champions League glory this time round, too.

And as alluded to above, two high-profile pundits have this week added their names to the list of Barca’s backers.

In quotes cited by Mundo Deportivo, ex-Liverpool star Jamie Carragher explained:

“My favourite for the Champions League is Barcelona. I was really impressed with their performances last season. I think they’ll go far again.”

And the Englishman was backed in his assessment by fellow countryman Micah Richards, who added:

“I’m also choosing Barcelona.”
