Several Real Madrid players have been representing their national teams in this March international break, all of them having differing fortunes.

For instance, Kylian Mbappe, Aurelien Tchouameni, and Eduardo Camavinga were able to get their French national team into the semi-finals of the UEFA Nations League, while Luka Modric was unable to do so as he put in a forgettable performance in the second leg of the quarter-final tie.

Meanwhile, some other Merengue players who have not been fixed starters for Carlo Ancelotti this season were also able to take advantage of this international break to showcase their talents with their respective national teams.

One such player was Brahim Diaz, who has been a regular feature in Real Madrid matches this season but is still not a starter in a lineup that has Kylian Mbappe, Vinicius Junior, and Rodrygo Goes as its starting attackers.

However, he is a fixed starter for his Morocco national team and was able to get on the scoresheet in his national side’s last game against Tanzania, which ended 2-0 in Morocco’s favour.

Brahim scored the second of these two goals, as he converted the penalty that was caused by a Tanzania player’s handball in his box.

In addition to this penalty, the Real Madrid forward was also well-engaged in this game for his team. According to Sofascore statistics, in the 90 minutes he remained on the pitch, he completed 59 of his 67 passes, thus recording an 88% success rate. Similarly, 2 of his 3 long balls were also successful.

However, he still was not at his best level, as none of his 4 attempted crosses were accurate and he won only 5 of the 12 duels he was engaged in. He also lost possession 19 times in this game.

Meanwhile, Arda Guler, who has found game time under Carlo Ancelotti rather rare in the last few months, also had quite an impressive outing with Turkey against Hungary.

The highlight of his game was the goal he scored in the 39th minute, which doubled his side’s lead only 2 minutes after Hakan Calhanoglu had given Turkey the lead with a penalty.

In addition to this goal, Sofascore notes that the youngster also put in 1 key pass and completed 87% of his passes. He also won 5 of the 6 ground duels he was engaged in and won 4 fouls for his side. He also put in 2 interceptions and 1 tackle to contribute to the defence.

Thus, the two substitutes took good advantage of this international break. Real Madrid will be particularly delighted with their performances as they showed that they remain ready to contribute whenever given the chance, and hopefully, they will do so for their club side as well in the final and decisive stretch of the season.
