Two people died after falling into the Seine during PSG's Champions League title celebrations at the weekend, taking the Paris death toll to three, according to L'Équipe.

On Saturday at about 9pm, police were alerted to a person in cardiorespiratory arrest on the quays in the 5th arrondissement. Witnesses said the individual jumped into the Seine, then sank. The river brigade later recovered the victim.

Despite treatment from Samu Hôtel-Dieu, the person was taken to hospital in a life-threatening condition. On Tuesday, the death of the victim, born in Rwanda in 1997, was confirmed. An inquiry into the cause of death was assigned to the 5th and 6th arrondissement police stations.

On Sunday morning, a man was found in the Seine near Pont Louis-Philippe. An emergency call indicated he had fallen into the water near Pont-au-Change. He could not be revived and an inquiry into the cause of death was opened.

Disorder during the celebrations was higher than last year, a rise of 45 percent. Another person died after a motorcycle fall on the ring road in the night from Saturday to Sunday. In total, more than 890 arrests were recorded.
